Thank you, Richterans!

Each and every one of the 174 of you, we appreciate your support <3

We're in the home stretch and we are thrilled of all the great stuff we'll be able to bring to you in Richter: The Rotting City. But we still have some more stretch goals to work toward!

At $4000, which we're really close to, we'll be adding a fourth adventure to Richter: Bone & Ash, extending its page count.

At $4500 we will add Community Copies to Richter: The Rotting City when it is released on Itch.io. One community copy for every backer at the softcover and hardcover levels. That's 85 copies as of writing this!

At $5000 we will publish and print the third book for Richter, The Porphyry Archive. This library is where the Order of Preservation did research on, collected tomes about, and stored artifacts related to divination. While it has been lost to The Rot, it has not sat empty. Your treasure-hunters can venture into its stacks and storerooms to preserve (or plunder) these mysteries. Here's a little piece of concept art Madeleine created for The Porphyry Archive.

With two days left to, we continue to appreciate your support and hope you can introduce RIchter to your friends, loved ones, frenemies, and arch rivals :)

We have some friends, loved ones, frenemies, and arch rivals who are running their own #ZineQuest projects now or coming soon, and we strongly encourage you check them out and back their projects which will, undoubtedly, be incredible.

Night Reign (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sinisterbeard/night-reign) by Oli Jeffery is a tabletop roleplaying game of stealth, guile, violence and devilry.  You are a member of the Red Right Hand, a disgraced intelligence agency  fighting a guerrilla war against covetous noble houses in the streets  and atop the rooftops of Laenfendport, an Edwardian fantasy metropolis. Natalie will be writing the adventure "Down By The Water", as an already funded stretch goal!

Oligarchy (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mythicgazetteer/oligarchy-rpg-zine) by Eli Kurtz is a game of political folly. You play as rotten bastards:  corrupt politicians, decadent aristocrats, and other greedy elites. You  are each determined to maximize your own wealth and comfort while your  actions tear society apart around you. Eventually, society will tolerate your abuses no more. But the iron confidence that is your privileged birthright makes you certain you will avoid that doom. You'll do anything to make sure you get yours (and get away with it).

Sunken (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mikemartens/sunken/) by Mike Martens shifts the fated tales of Trophy into a cold sea and its hold of unfathomable terrors. It's a dark, one-shot ttrpg zine with simple rules and evocative storytelling. You just might end up seeing a couple of familiar names in the credits, too.

Under the Floorboards (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loottheroom/under-the-floorboards-a-zine-quest-rpg) by Chris Bisette is a rules-lite RPG based on The Borrowers. Build your character, form your family, and venture out on an expedition into a giant, hostile world. Illustrations will be done by Madeleine, so check this one out!

Lions* and Tigers* and Stretch Goals, Oh My!
about 4 years ago – Sun, Feb 16, 2020 at 05:42:16 AM

Hello Richterans!

Yesterday, you pushed us over the stretch goal, so it's now official - Richter: Bone & Ash will be published and printed! If you would like to order it as part of this Kickstarter, increase your pledge by $12 for the PDF ($5 if you're screwed by capitalism), $20 for the softcover, and $40 for the hardcover.

Up Next: The Porphyry Archive

At $5,000, we'll be adding a third book to the Richter series, The Porphyry Archive. In this tome we take a deeper look at the places of learning in Richter and the book trade. We'll also expand on The Order of Preservation.

The Order started out as archivists, librarians, and academic researchers. Now, though, they have unlocked the secrets of resonance, and channel it through artifacts of brass and amber to augment their powers in confronting demons and other spirit beings. Librarians turned demon hunters. But resonance comes at a cost - just as any power in Richter - and The Rot will have its due.

The adventures in The Porphyry Archive will explore the eponymous Porphyry Archive. The Order of Preservation researched divination in this massive red granite edifice and when it was lost to The Rot, much knowledge and foreknowledge was lost. The Order is eager for its return, but many other powers in Richter would love to have it in their hands. Venture into its reaches. Confront those who now call it home. Retrieve its tomes and artifacts, if you can.

Bonus Stretch Goals

We're introducing TWO NEW STRETCH GOALS

At $3500, we will add a triple-statted adventure to Richter: The Rotting City and, yes, this means more pages and more content coming your way in the core book!

At $4000, we will add a triple-statted adventure to Richter: Bone & Ash, bringing it to FOUR adventures in this book! Likewise, this will extend the page count as we pack even more fun and more terrors into it!

We have a few days left in this campaign, so please share the wonders of Richter with your friends and loved ones... You shouldn't have to suffer in Richter alone...

*Apologies, Richterans, we have run out of both lions and tigers. We have been authorized to provide Moths instead.

Richter: The Rotting Domain of Dread (corrected and re-issued)
about 4 years ago – Thu, Feb 13, 2020 at 11:38:09 PM

It was the third week at sea, with roughly ten days remaining until we reached port. The winds had calmed and the ocean was unpleasantly still. As the sun set, a thick fog set in. We drifted for some time, but without stars or sun, we couldn't say for how long. No more than a day, certainly.

The storm came upon us with no warning. We quickly raised the sails and sailed with the leading edge of the storm. It lashed us for hours, leaving all of us soaked to the bone. I couldn't feel the ropes I was tying and no one else could either.

The storm eventually blew itself out and the fog cleared. No one recognized the stars in the sky and we could see a lighthouse and a city on the horizon. We were nowhere near land to have come upon a lighthouse and a city. It could not have been there!

In shock, and no small amount of fear, we sailed into the city's harbor. It was choked with wrecked and rotting ships, and we took a jolly boat to the docks. A man in a officious looking uniform, bearing an emblem we did not recognize, met us on the pier. He said, "Welcome to Richter..."

We've been working on the adventures in Richter: Bone & Ash, and we have some really cool ideas. "Bone White" will remain a Trophy Dark incursion, as it already is (and you can check it out here).

The other adventures, "Bone Ash" and "Marsh Clay", will not be written exclusively for Trophy Gold and Best Left Buried, respectively. Instead, we are going to write the scenario with a system-agnostic approach so it can be easily adapted to your system of choice. But we're not leaving you to do all the work - the adventures will both be fully statted for Trophy Gold AND Best Left Buried, so you get twice as many adventures in your system of choice.

But wait! There's more...

We are writing Richter so the city can be used in just about any fantasy setting where you're looking for some dark fantasy and horror. Any temperate, coastal marshland can be its home. But a city and its nearby land, dark and foggy, with an evil presence that makes everything kind of terrible... yeah, we think Richter would make a pretty good Domain of Dread in Ravenloft.

Accordingly, we will also be statting the adventures for Fifth Edition Dungeons & Dragons!

So, whether you want to push your desperate treasure-hunters luck in Trophy Gold, risk your health and sanity digging into crypts in Best Left Buried, or fight against the forces of darkness in the world's most popular role-playing game, we've got you covered. Richter is here to entertain, delight, and terrify in whichever system you favor.

Trophy. Best Left Buried. Dungeons & Dragons. Your table, our horrors.
